severed finger gelatine prosthetic

ok here is a quick post as there is not much to this apart from the getting the colouring right on the fingers,
depending on how you want the fingers to look,

well here goes i started by taking a copy of my finger with a skin safe no water based silicone, you have about  5 minute work time with this so no need to rush just make sure you have a go coverage and no air bubbles....it will be set after 30 mins depending on which silicone you use, then i removed it from my thumb, i also did one of my finger as well.

i melted one block or cube of 300 bloom fx gelatine i got mine from mouldlife, but ive found what looks like a better gelatine from a company called nimbus creations which comes pre coloured in flesh which will make colouring easier next time.

with one block melt it in the microwave in small bursts of 5 seconds and stir each time. dont let it boil.

once melted and coloured , which after a few failed starts i found that liquid foundation and food
colouring is the best way to go i poured the gelatine in the mould then poured it back out to to make sure it gets a nice first detail layer......check for air bubbles then pour the rest back in.

i then stood it up in the freezer for 30 mins to speed up the setting and cooling time once out of the freezer let it warm to room temperature squeezing the mould gently and slowly pull out the finger and its ready for painting  as bellow

here is the thumb straight out the mould with the index finger all pained

and there you go ready to goar away lol

as an add on to this blog i have also made severed toes and now ears

colouring the best a cheapest way ive found is to use a liquid foundation and food colouring to add the reds an blues you find in human skin colour works good...

bellow are the pics of the new items...
